I went to Moy Rock yesteray (Sunday) and was really impressed. Climbed on the bit that is not in the guide, where the path comes up next to the tree. There was a slabby route on the left (my mate said it had a rope on it last time that had project on it) which was good and will get even better with a little more traffic (About 5-), another route to the right (about 5+/6a) and one more to the right (about 6a/6a+).

Was just wondering if anyone else had been and if they had any ideas of the grades and if they know who I should thank for the excellent bolting.

Is there an idiots guide to this on the site?

Hi sandy

the first thing you need is a log in (this is diffrent to your forum log in - sorry we know that's a pain)

Then you can clik the edit tab on the pages.

In it's simpleist form you can then just type into the box. A bit like in the forum you then get some boxes which let you do stuff like make things bold or italics ect.

there is a more indepth help section here: http://www.scottishclimbs.com/wiki/Help:Contents

Mostly just have a go - it's super easy to change things back so you don't need to worry about making a mess of anything.

Hi

I have just added some info onto the guide, hope it is OK I found the page with editing info on it.

Anyone who has been and done these routes please feel free to agree/disagree with the grades and either change them or let me know.

Also I ahve not added any route names as I did not bolt them, so if you were the kind person to do the bolting then feel free to name them.

Thanks

Sandy

Currently putting something together but as Wills and Andy Wilby have still been busy with the drill have held back. I will update what has been done on the website so far with route names and grades if I can find the bit of paper. Did Little Teaser recently which was a lot better than I anticipated for the crag with it being much more solid than first thought. It is hand for the second to wear a helmet as the occassional hold does break off.

Cheers Smiley

Thanks, I thought someone must be doing something as the bolting seemed to be going on fairly regularly.

Hey, I'm new here so be kind Smiley

Having heard about Moy before, quite interested by the posting.

Firstly, thanks for providing the wiki thing - i actually used it and found it useful, and i suppose the only way these things will survive is if folk actually contribute.

Secondly, FAB, a well bolted venue.  Whoever done this, deserves a medal.

However Sad , it would be great if we can get a venue that's not crumbling apart.  OK, so maybe it was just the routes i chose (probably the ones that looked the easiest) but i tried 2 lines and holds came off on both routes between each bolt.

Just needs some more traffic I suppose, but i feel as if i've done my bit now.

The well travled line are a lot more solid and it seems like the easier lines are the newest so have the most lose pebbles. I am sure that with time all the routes will become a little more solid. The other problem is that most conglomerate crags are going to lose pebbles just the nature of the rock.

Moy is still a work in progress and there is a bit of stuff still to be done. Andy deserves a lot of credit for this place working hard, often a night last winter and through his own pocket to produce a good little venue. Thanks for the mention Lone Rider, but I only bolted the one route this summer.  Di the routes on the left hand sector have had so much traffic and a little bit of resin I think you would be unlucky to pull a hold of there. The others just need a bit more traffic, take a brush and give em a clean on your way down. Oh and climb with light thoughts!! Though the "Fly" the 6a/6a+ by the oak tree is perhaps the most solid of the easier routes. Glad a few people have enjoyed the routes.
For those local to Inverness I see Andy put a topo up on the wall notice board.

Hi sorry for the delay in the response -

Andy is pretty handy with the drill but not so great on the computer, what are girlfriends for?
I've updated the guide with the updated route names and grades including the more recent bolted lines.

http://www.scottishclimbs.com/wiki/Moy_Rock

Its a great wee venue, just on our doorstep and we've noticed that the older lines have settled down, not so much loose stuff now.  So more traffic on the newer lines required.

Thanks to the kind feedback submitted on this forum and also thanks to Will for bolting Pebble Party, good job and to those who have kindly contributed to Andys bolt fund- much appreciated!

Happy climbing  Smiley
