Not sure what all this " " is about?
They're quotation marks.

Sorry Aln,
I thought thay were "finger wagging" sort of ironic, disbelieving questions marks that inferred I knew more than I was letting on. My mistake...easy done online I guess.

Nothing like that. I was just wondering if they did it for the hell of it, it's a tempting target and a lot of folk have had a go at it over the years. Or did they think it would make it safer to climb in that part of the quarry?

Considering how local they are, those OMC boys are a bit slow off the mark.

I'd like to add - don't climb Toddle it's a pile of shite that's even more piley of shitey now than it was to start with. That route Repeat Offender that I seconded Raymond up may also be dangerous. Maybe climbers shouldn't climb it. Although it seems obvious from the route description that it may be loose, I quote, "the dubious blocks", and using your eyes and brain and the under rated concept of common sense I have to put it out there that it might not be a good idea to go up it if you don't like dubious blocks. And I'd like to point out that it wasn't the "dubious blocks" that caused the accident. As far as I know loose rock at the top collapsed. Not that unusual for Cambusbarron.
And I don't think the pulling down of the loose pillar was a particularly good thing. The intrigueingly loose looking blocks above the area of Doobie Brothers now have no visible means of support.

If the dubious blocks you speak of are the dubious blocks I'm thinking of, three came down. He was just reaching the top of the stack, where he could stand and reach the top of the crag to top out. He grabbed the top block sideways and pulled it off. It landed on his ropes and pulled him off, he took a small block with him (plenty of real small rocks came down too). His top cam brought a rock down with it, which landed on his arm. the second cam also popped and made another block loose, but it didn't fall. The several really fecking big blocks didn't come down.
