Climbing between Arbroath and Stonehaven
«

OK I realise Im being lazy here as Im sure I could look it up somewhere but...
Im coming to Scotland for field work in 10 days time and will be staying midway between Stonehaven and Arbroath for 2 weeks. Is there any bouldering there? What is the closest good climbing?
Also any bouldering in Glen Esk?
Any help appreciated

If you have a look at past topics on this forum (I never had time to check). You'll find theres links to bouldering in Muchalls, Arbroath, Portlethen and up the glens.
Muchalls is particulary good but a print out of the guide available on one of these threads is recommended. Portlethen is good fun to but full of dodgey landings.
For sport climbing Arbroath has well over 100 routes I believe. A fair whack of which are on the sea cliffs. Kirremuir also has some decent sport climbing, whether or not its better than Arborath I don't know, not made it out there yet.
I recently moved to Montrose so have been looking for places to go similar to you. Kirrimuir is next on the list.
